Year Takeaways & Learnings

I really hope this year was one filled with joy, blessings and good experiences for you and the people you love.

Before the end of the year, I wanted to share and catalog what I learned and the lessons I will keep applying both in life and in business from now on. So… here we go!

  1. This first one is a phrase I heard recently, “You can’t outsource soul”. Jesse Itzler said this during an interview after being asked if the Christmas letters he sent every year could be outsourced.

This quote actually came in around the same time I heard one of my best friends say that I wasn’t doing hard work, but heart work. Which is also a great quote.

I really want for this to be the center of everything I do, I really don’t crave money or power, but I do want to make other people’s lives better and the only way to do that is to put my soul into what I do, my business will just be an extension of me to help as many people as possible.

  1. Focus on 1 product to 1 persona via 1 channel

I realize this year that I can achieve good results in marketing with anything I do, I just need consistency, because we often crave doing new things we lose focus and make it difficult for ourselves to grow.

For example, I tried around 4 different lead acquisition strategies this year. They all worked, but I quit the last one after starting the next, so none created constant results, my issue was consistency.

Next year, I will have one focus and will go all in, I will report back on how that goes 🤞

  1. Always prepare for a meeting. 15 minute prep at least.

I actually started this a few months ago, and now I take the time to research people at least 15 minutes before meeting with them, this lets me guide the conversation into areas of common interest and creates opportunity for both of us. I invite you to do that as well, it was a huge game changer this year.

  1. This is more like a list of things that I started recently and will go all out for next year that I feel like will have a massive impact on what I do:

  • Giving frequent updates to clients - more wins specially early on creates a better bond with clients which creates trust and real connection

  • Meeting with clients more often and keeping them connected with people in the community to help each other grow.

  • More repurposing content. I write A LOT here and really don’t share it anywhere else, so I want to expand where I share my notes and help more people as we (you — the readers and I) grow.

Finally, I think this newsletter was a great thing to look back at for me. Having great conversations with you guys and knowing that this 2–3 hour effort every week goes to a good cause - connecting the community.

Here’s to another year of success and connections 🥂
