Welcome to the networking desk! Other than preparing for storms like the one we got this week, we also need to prepare to make the most out of events, that’s why this week I thought I would share a bit more on that.

Here’s what we got this week:

“Lean forward moment” of the week - Meet Super Connectors 🤩

Control - this is the word that I would use to describe how I approach networking.

I like to be able to control how an event will go. But you might be asking, how can I control what’s going to happen at an event, isn’t the people you meet random?

Not necessarily.

In order to meet great networkers who will help you connect to amazing people in the community aka super connectors, you got to start by finding who those are.

Here’s how: Must events have attendant directories, looking at these directories will tell you who you could both benefit and who could benefit you. So come prepared.

• Search people online, see how active they are, are they speakers, writers, active community members?

• Email organizers and find out who is presenting or who’s active in the community.

• Reach out and ask to meet with them after the event. Recommend a local spot and show interest, they will be booked after a talk, so might as well take action sooner.

Remember: Networking is both giving and receiving. Must times people think “how can I benefit from you” instead think who can I connect you with… Trust me, this generates way more business and referrals than any other method. Got to love reciprocity.

Local shop of the week - One Zo Boba Buford

Not an ad – just a cool spot to visit

I found this place some time ago as I was searching good spots for drinking matcha (yeah, I prefer tea to coffee - sorry 🤯)

They have a matcha Oreo drink which is excellent. They are also at a great spot to meet, right by mall of Georgia, so is very centric for a lot of people. Here’s their business profile.
