✂️Be a Curator | ATL Networking Events 03/24/2025
🗓️ Metro Atlanta Events & Business Tips

Here’s another week of curated local networking events!
Hey! Andres here,
Welcome to the networking desk! This week we got a lot of events and some food for thought based on a book I was reading last week.
If you are new here, welcome! I do talk (or write) a lot, so feel free to skip to the events.
Also, if you’d like to see something else like your own event or for me to share something, let me know, I like to treat this as a community email, so feel free to share.
Here’s what we got this week:
Becoming a curator, less is more.
A few interesting events from the community
Alright, let’s do this.

“Lean forward moment” of the week - ✂️Be a Curator to create interest.
Let’s admit it, we all have crappy posts.
Actually, for some of us, most are. But why is that? If you ask me, I’d say it is the time we dedicate to them.
We all hear we need to post something, to create ”valuable content” but what does that even mean? Look, at this point, it is impossible that any of the things you share are not somewhere online.
But now, that’s where I want to get with this title.
In this era of asking ChatGPT to “write a LinkedIn post that engages your community and mentions a valuable fact about your industry” We are getting lost in long blurbs of text that say nothing. That have no soul.
Don’t get me wrong, I use ChatGPT daily, hey, I even pay for their monthly subscription. But the amount of misuse it gets, is killing great content. Now, let’s define great content.
Here’s where the curation comes in….
Great content (to me) has the following characteristics:
Has emotion, think of the reaction of the person reading it. Aim for: WTF, WOW, LOL. What emotion do we want to evoke on the reader? This is what Creators will use to make sure videos go viral, they think of the emotion first, then develop the content
There’s a story, we love stories, think of content as a movie: character, problem, journey, and outcome (both good and bad)
It is easy to understand, low reading level (3rd - 6th grade). This does not exclude more intelligent people, but rather makes it available for those with lower reading levels
Keep it short, specially at the start, storytelling is an art. As such, we need to get good at it to make more concise and impactful messages, so always revise and improve before sending. Once you get good, then longer stories will have more “flare” to them.
Yes, you can use an AI tool to find information, curate it, change the tone of a sentence, lower the reading level, and create a shorter more impactful message. But the fact is, no one is doing it.
This week, make a short post, with a ton of value, but do not use AI, and make it from the heart, was there something you learn? A person you met with? A life-changing experience that changed your perspective on something?
Then, revise that text and make it shorter, more impactful. Look, it is harder to tell a story on a few lines, rather than on a full book.
Just a thought I had this week, always think of yourself as a curator.
Remember, museums and art galleries are not made by throwing random pieces of art on a wall. But rather of a though out collection of pieces. It is what is left out that makes what remains impactful.
