“Lean forward moment” of the week - Becoming more interesting in conversations 🧐

A while back I heard that by asking a question you may sound like a fool for a minute, but by not asking you become a fool for life… This resonated with me.

I invite you to try this next time you are at a networking event. Listen attentively, even if you think you know what the other person is going to say, hear their perspective and ask questions. You can only win during that interaction. You either learn something new OR make a new friend.

In both situations, you win.

A good read on this topic is the book “How to make friends and influence people” I believe chapter 4 talks about this topic. Carnegie (the author) listened for hours to a botanist speak about his work. At the end of the evening, the man told him that he was an interesting conversationalist, despite the fact that Carnegie had barely spoken. But Carnegie listened and was genuinely interested—paying the kind of attention that pays the other person a compliment.
