🗓️ Metro Atlanta Events & Business Tips

Hey Hey! It’s time for another week of events:

Hey! Andres here,

Welcome to the networking desk! I wanted to touch on this topic for a bit as something that always surprised me was people not following up or scheduling after networking events, which is what has made me good friends and great connections.

Here’s what we got this week:

  • How to follow up with people and doing it faster

  • Events

Alright, let’s do this!

“Lean forward moment” of the week - Contact leads & people faster

If this is the case, then why doesn’t everyone do it? —It’s hard to implement. Try responding to every message you get within 1 to 5 minutes, you would not get anything done.

I’ve noticed that this principle applies well to networking as well. I make around 98% of all follow-ups / invitations to coffee after meeting someone to learn more about who they are and what they do after a networking event. I am always impressed when someone actually writes first.

Because of these coffees and follow-ups I connect people creating opportunities for them and have gotten website projects because of this. I’d invite you to start having the initiative to invite, there are a couple of tips I follow that does not make it as hard as to having to contact within 1 minute.

  1. Automate your thank-you notes - Because I use HubSpot I get templates I can use to email people, so I created one where I can get started quicker (if you don’t have HubSpot just create one and have it saved on your note-taking app of preference) I have a space there to share something we shared in common, and to remind them who I am. I also add a calendar link in case they want to schedule and my phone number so they can call if that’s easier.

  2. Schedule a meeting from an event - This is my favorite one, if you are already there, why not schedule? I can’t tell you the amount of times someone has been grateful because of this, instead of spending a dozen of back and forward emails I just pull out my phone ask for a good date and time and send them the invitation, saving us both all the hassle, and you will be remembered as a very organized person. Follow this up with automated emails for reminders, you will be set.

Let me know what are your favorite strategies by replying to this email!
