Growing Profitable Relationships šŸ’Œ | Atlanta Networking Events 6/3/24

Metro Atlanta Events & Business Tips

Alright, let’s start June strong. With a bunch of events!

Welcome to the networking desk, where every week I share networking events going on in Atlanta (and metro area) tips on how to get the most out of them and more. This week…

ā€œLean forward momentā€ of the week - How to grow profitable relationships šŸ’Œ

Just like plants, relationships need to be watered and maintained in order to get fruits back.

I started implementing a new system to keep business relationships ā€œfreshā€ and growing. Chapter 20 of the book ā€œnever eat aloneā€ talks about pinging and how important it is to stay in touch with our contacts (personal life, clients, prospects, and associates etc.)

The books suggest to make 3 lists, the first one is for people who we are trying to develop better relationships with and are the priority, they get contacted every month and in multiple ways (emails, cards, phone, text…), the second list is for once a quarter people who you want to ā€œtouch baseā€ with, they are sent quick updates and messages on birthdays.

āļø PRO TIP: Asking people for their birthdays when you first meet them. It’s surprising how much people care (although lots of us we say we don’t) it’s always nice for someone to take the time to send a card or give us a birthday call, and it’s a great gesture to have with all our contacts.

I found this website [PunkPost] that creates handwritten notes — It would get pricey if we did this for every person we know, but in special occasions it might be worth it.

The third list is for people we don’t know well, who, because of time or circumstance, we can’t be pinging more often.

Funny enough… the book mentions how because we don’t talk with them much when they hear from us, they have a very positive reaction, I say is funny because my dad’s best friend always reaches out to me once a year (usually on my birthday) and sends a quick birthday message or wishes me a good day through Facebook and at this point I look forward to it haha

Try categorizing people with these 3 lists on a CRM and schedule reminders. Works pretty well for me, but let me know what you think!
