šŸ’Œ Inviting People To Your Events | ATL Networking Events 12/02/2024

šŸ—“ļø Metro Atlanta Events & Business Tips

Alright people! Now that we are stuffed with food, time to get ready to network again šŸƒ:

Hey! Andres here,

Welcome to the networking desk! This week I actually got a bunch of events to attend, but before we get started I wanted to say thank you!

Thank you for always reading to those who I know in person and those who I don’t. I truly appreciate you, doing this honestly takes time, and it would be easy to quit if it wasn’t for your words of support and seeing how everyone actively connects in the community.

I look forward to keep growing this newsletter, and meeting more of you as we go.

Stay awesome. šŸ˜Ž

Alright, before I start crying. Here’s what we got this week:

  • Event invitations done right.

  • Events for this week

  • Cool story about Christmas packing event

Alright, let’s do this.

ā€œLean forward momentā€ of the week - Inviting people to your events

Alright, here’s what’s up. You know, I get to see a lot of event pages and some of them are better than others, so this week continuing my series on the book ā€œThe 2-hour cocktail partyā€ I will talk about invitations.

The book recommends creating a list of people like friends, acquaintances, or coworkers that are the must likely to come and directly invite them with an honest and personalized message. Do not send them a copy-paste message!

On your message be vulnerable and honest, be transparent about the objective of the event (this helps a lot if you are an introvert) Here’s an example:

ā€œHey, I am putting together a networking event. I actually got the idea from this newletter I read and tought ā€˜hey, why not?’… I’d love for you to be there, can I send you more information about it?

Simple, and you know this people, so add a bit of your own flare to it haha.

Next, is a pet peeve of mine. MAKE A GOOD EVENT PAGE!

Let me give you a — we will call it the ā€œAndres’ list of approved platformsā€:

Eventbrite, Facebook, Luma. That’s it easy.

But just in case you need more, the author of the book has a great blog post about platforms you can see here: Free RSVP Platforms

Perfect, now that we got that cover, we go to the next thing: Making them awesome.

Because no one wants to go to an event that looks uninteresting or ugly, here are the main rules to follow:

  1. Image - Use an image of what people can expect. If it’s fun with games, show that! If it’s about conversations and icebreakers, show people talking and laughing.

    • Please don’t add crazy pictures with a bunch of text and fancy fonts. The simpler, the better.

  2. Title - Use a title that describes the event and purpose. This is like for a good website, think of your ideal participant, what do they want? Business growth? Connections? Friends? A girlfriend? I don’t know, maybe… just let them know.

  3. Description - no one reads these. Just kidding, some do, but title and image are for sure where most people will make the decision. For the description, aim to make it as detailed as possible, show agendas if you have any or describe the structure.

Mine is not a perfect example, but I aim to get as descriptive as possible for our closed networking event.

In The Community - Christmas Packing

something cool I thought I would highlight this week

To those who follow me in LinkedIn (and if you don’t, I’d love to connect, here’s my profile) you may have seen this post I made about a Christmas food pack up party for families in need.

The reason why I wanted to bring it up is because I see a lot coming up from time to time at churches and even business organizations.

If you can, try supporting one.

I’ve always believed that donating money is a good way to help a cause, but time and effort is the way to truly experience the impact. The energy you feel at one of these events is impressive, really no way to describe it, you got to live it.

Here’s the few pics I took lol, I was running around so not too many.

Thank you for reading! Quick thing before I go:

  1. If you are new or would like to read older posts, check out this page. There is a backlog of previous weeks of ā€œThe Networking Deskā€

  2. Know someone who would benefit from this newsletter? Be sure to share it with them! šŸ“© (just copy the link or forward this email) I will keep putting out great newsletters for them and for you. That’s a promise.

See you next week.
