Welcome to another week of the networking desk! With holidays approaching, we got to make our networking work for us ahead of time… Make sure to start promoting any discounts or promos for the holidays, if you wait for the holidays, then it is too late!
Alright, let’s do this.
“Lean forward moment” of the week - The gift card strategy 💳
“I am doing a 90% off gift cards to give family members this thanks giving” my massage therapist client said during a networking event, the result? A few people actually bought right there, and others asked, “how is that even profitable?”
Let me answer that for you. It’s not. Just kidding, it is. 😜
Honestly, this is simple math. My customer has a CAC of $200, while on average a session cost $150, but most of their clients stay for at least 6 months, making them worth $900 on average.
By creating this 90% off gift card they did 2 things for the customer, first they made them look better because it has to be used as a gift for someone else, and second, it looks like they bought their friends a $150 dollar item, when in reality they only spent $15.
Now on the business side, a customer just paid YOU $15 to get you a new customer, so instead of spending $200 to generate a new customer, they got paid $15 😎 which will create a new customer which is likely to be worth $900.
